Realizing Every Child's Potential

6.6 million:  the number of youth (ages 3-21) in the United States who have been identified with a disability that adversely impacts their academic performance.  This represents 13% of the nation’s children enrolled in public school. 

 

In Pennsylvania, the percentage 15%.

Children with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), a Gifted Individualized Education Plan (GIEP) or a 504 plan may or may not have developmental delays, physical or health impairments; these plans may exist for any number of reasons including serving children with behavioral or emotional needs, as well as children whose primary language is not English.
