After eight months on the waiting list for an evaluation, we received the diagnosis:

Autism Spectrum Disorder (followed years later with Epilepsy).

While our family had the benefit of growing up in the Philadelphia region, we were still daunted by what to do next.  After many trials, years and dollars spent we created a support network for our son that includes multiple therapies per week, constructed social opportunities, specialists, educators and doctors that support our son's needs.  This was accomplished while also navigating the insurance world and state system.  Since no child's needs remain constant we are in frequent reset mode and our son is only in elementary school.

Caring for a child with special needs is difficult.  Add on the demands of work and life and the task can become overwhelming.
